Artist Statement

In my work, dream like images juxtapose with conscious experiences and produce a form of Pop Expressionism. My themes are real and inspired by popular culture and political art. However, at the same time they are expressions of spiritual yearning and an overactive imagination. My mind and hands work together to build and image out of the medium. The result returns mystique, mystery and lore to art. My work aims to tell a story of alternative meanings with both positive and negative intentions. I see the imagery in my art to be nostalgic and innocent, but also boldly progressive. My artwork is about self perception. The way that I view myself, or feel about my place in the collective universe dictates the expression in my paintings and collages.
